During the structural steel erection phase of a segment of the Getty Center, Southern California was struck by the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The vulnerability of pre-quake welded connections at the Getty Center was discovered by personnel from Twining. We then participated in a research project funded by a private party that led to the redesign and retrofit of the structural steel framing at this landmark institution. Twining performed all testing and inspection for both the research program and the retrofit.
